It is my honour to serve the Hong Kong Geotechnical Society (HKGES) as the President.  I would like to express my gratitude to the immediate past President Ir Dr Johnny Cheuk for his dedication in promoting technical exchange amongst geotechnical practitioners in different sectors. 

With the support of the committee members of the HKGES, HKGES will fulfil the mandate to provide channels for geotechnical practitioners in Hong Kong to take part in events of international learned society such as ISSMGE. 

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the means of people’s connectivity and communication in the globe.  People have adapted to meeting via video conferencing.  With this “new normal”, HKGES will arrange more technical webinars with geotechnical counterparts in other places, particularly, those in our time zone, to promote technical exchange.  This can also foster our tie with geotechnical communities in different places. 

In the coming years, HKGES will continue the collaboration with HKIE Geotechnical Division in delivering services and technical events.  I look forward to your continuous support to the HKGES.
